All children attend weekly art classes and participate in various activities that keep the students’ learning fun and engaged. Art is an instrument that assists a child’s academic achievement and nourishes their social and emotional development. Education through art also improves motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork.
My name is Heather Ames, and I am the Art Teacher at Santa Cruz Catholic School. My family and I moved from upstate New York to Texas a few years ago and have been loving this adventure ever since! I have a Bachelor's degree in Art Education and Studio Art from Roberts Wesleyan University and have been in education for over 8 years, with the past four years dedicated to teaching Art at SCCS.

Before becoming a teacher, I owned a custom painting business, Reclaimed Art, and a custom sugar cookie business, where I combined my love for creativity and design. I’m passionate about helping students explore their artistic talents and develop confidence in their creativity.
At home, I’m a proud mom of four amazing kids! I love decorating, refinishing old furniture, painting, and spending as much time as possible with my family. I feel truly blessed to be part of the Santa Cruz community and to share the joy of art with our students. I love seeing what they create each year! -
